Ruth Swanwick, Elettra Casellato, and Nathalie Czeke visited the University of Cologne (DE) to kick off the IDeALL project that brings together a small group of researchers from across Europe to focus on language development and language education of newly immigrated deaf and hard of hearing students. Ruth presented the group with an impulse talk, outlining key questions for future inquiry, while Elettra and Nathalie presented their work during a poster session. The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and will run for three years, contributing to an international and interdisciplinary discourse and network that shall build a basis for research on the learning situation of young, newly immigrated, deaf and/or hard of hearing additional language learners.
