Position
College of International Studies, Southwest University, China

I work at the College of International Studies in Southwest University, China, where I am responsible for organizing national training programmes for Chinese primary and secondary school teachers.

I obtained my PhD from Beijing Normal University in 2016, majoring in Curriculum and Instruction. My research interests include Foreign Language Education, and Foreign Language Teacher Education. I am particularly interested in how to improve the effectiveness of EFL classroom teaching and learning. So, my PhD thesis explored nine conditions for English learning that can facilitate foreign language learning in secondary classrooms in China from a classroom ecology perspective.

My current research focuses on Chinese students’ agentic engagement through examining their use of Language Teaching and Learning materials in EFL reading classrooms for English majors. This employs multimodal conversation analysis to closely examine sequences in which teacher-generated materials interact with student-generated materials, for a deeper understanding of learners’ agency in agentically personalizing what is to be learned.
