Professor Maggie Kubanyiova delivered a keynote lecture at the 9th National Conference on Foreign Language Teacher Education and Development, organised by Central China Normal University in Wuhan, attracting over 3,800 online participants. Her lecture entitled ‘Language teacher motivation as a desire to make a difference: Lessons for teacher education in the post-pandemic world’ discussed her latest research combining anthropological and ethical perspectives on the role of language in human relationships. Reflecting on data-based vignettes from diverse contexts of language learners’ and teachers’ lives, Professor Kubanyiova discussed the value of interdisciplinary research for understanding and practising language teacher education in the post-pandemic world.
